Biography
William Zhang is Technology and Innovation Adviser at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Innovation
Hub - Nordic Centre, where he provides technical leadership to the centre’s projects and initiatives, with a focus
on the security, resilience, and integrity of future financial systems. Before joining the BIS, he led the security
architecture team at The World Bank Group (WBG), where his team was responsible for security architecture
design and assessment of technology platforms and business solutions, as well as security related topics in
WBG’s Innovation Lab. Before joining the WBG, William worked at The Vanguard Group in various capacities,
including user experience design, emerging technology research, system architecture, and information security.
William received his BS and MS degrees from Peking University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland,
all in computer science.
