John O'Beirne is CEO and Executive Director of Square International Ltd, UK and Europe. Square is a Block company that helps millions of sellers run and grow their businesses with its integrated ecosystem of point of sale systems, commerce solutions, business software and banking services. John's obsession is simple: ensuring that sophisticated technology becomes invisible to business owners, so they can focus on serving their customers and never miss a sale. Prior to joining Block in 2023, John gained over 20 years of experience in financial services, including roles as CEO of Bank of Ireland Mortgage Bank and Director of Business Banking. He identified how legacy systems constrained innovation and inclusion, and championed large scale digital transformations that put customers first. He is Chair of the Fintech and Payments Association and board member of Dublin Chamber.
