With more than ten years leading the Credit and Customer Service Division at Kohl’s, Mr. Carrothers is responsible for leading Kohl’s credit card program, credit operations, service centers and risk management for payment acceptance in-store and on-line. These responsibilities include the management and leadership for servicing credit card issuance, credit underwriting, risk management, digital payments, and company-wide customer service for Kohl’s.
As a senior member of Kohl’s leadership team, Mr. Carrothers has played critical roles in helping establish strategies to promote and increase digital sales, enter new markets, establish key business resource groups, sponsor programs for the employment of veterans and leading programs to target and develop Hispanic professionals across Kohl’s.
One of Mr. Carrothers’ most notable business accomplishments is the leadership and growth of the Kohl’s credit card from a small, regional credit card portfolio to the single largest private label credit card portfolio in the United States, with more than thirty-five million loyal cardholders, representing more than half of all sales at Kohl’s Department Stores in-store and on-line.
Prior to his current role at Kohl’s, Mr. Carrothers held management and senior leadership roles for approximately fifteen years in retail, investments, risk management, collections, finance, credit underwriting, and customer service operations in the U.S. and Latin America with Walmart, Fidelity Investments, Citigroup and Kohl’s.
As an active member of several charitable organizations for children’s causes and financial literacy, Mr. Carrothers is highly involved in the community. He has also served on the board of directors of several professional and charitable organizations and has previously worked as a part-time college professor in management and finance. He currently serves on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Wisconsin as well as the Merchant Advisory Group.
Mr. Carrothers holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Master’s degree in business administration from Thunderbird School of Global Management as well as certification in senior financial leadership from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth
