Dr. Mok Oh heads the Global Service Business Development team in Samsung Electronics’ Communication Division in Suwon, Korea, leading partnerships for Samsung Services including Bixby, Samsung Connect, Samsung DeX as well as the company’s broader business development and strategies for IoT, weather, music, mapping and more.

Before joining Samsung in 2016, Mok was the founder and CEO of Moju Labs, a big data company focused on developing innovative technologies and products for capturing images with mobile phones using computer vision and machine learning algorithms.

Prior to founding Moju Labs, Mok held roles at North Bridge Venture Partners, PayPal and WHERE, Inc. While at PayPal, as Chief Scientist, Mok contributed to ongoing data product innovation through the collection and analysis of customer insights leveraging big data and machine learning.  He grew a team of data scientists and developed a personalization and prediction services for shopping (with eBay), advertising, and e-commerce. Before that, he served as the Chief Innovation Officer at WHERE, Inc., where he oversaw the development of the “Atlas Project,” a project aimed at enhancing the digitization of the real (offline) world, improving how it connects to the online world and ultimately streamlining the commerce ecosystem. PayPal acquired WHERE, Inc. in 2011 for $135MM.

Prior to WHERE, Mok founded EveryScape Inc., a data visualization company which generated revenue streams from various markets including travel, local search and mobile. Over the course of his career, Mok has filled a multitude of roles ranging from data architecture and product management to intellectual property strategies and business development.

Mok holds a Ph.D. in Computer Graphics from MIT, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and Computer Science, Art History and Studio Art degrees from Oberlin College. Mok is a seasoned speaker who has appeared at a variety of events including the MIT Lecture Series, Harvard School of Architecture, O’Reilly Where 2.0 Conference, Web 2.0 Summit and DEMO Conference (DEMOgod Winner).
