Michael Dooijes is an international executive, industry leader and innovator with extensive entrepreneurial experience in the FinTech space. In the 2014 list of Bank Innovation, he is one of the people to watch in the financial sector.
In the last 20+ years, Michael has lived and worked in various countries, including the UK, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal and the Netherlands, being active in international business and sales management roles. Until mid 2016, Michael was Head of Ventures & Innovation at Rabobank Netherlands Bedrijven, looking after Rabobank's strategic direction in transaction banking with a team of 7 professionals. Rabobank is one of the largest banks in the world.
His key responsibilities included strategy, client centric innovative solutions and business development. Next to this role, Michael was CEO of mobile payment startup, MyOrder, purchased by Rabobank in 2012. Michael was also a member of Rabo’s innovation board.
MyOrder is fast becoming the leading platform in the E- & MCommerce space. It provides merchants a multi-faceted platform for meeting mobile customer demands, and providing Value Added Services in Retail. Rabobank is one of the first banks to acquire an m-commerce start-up and is a frontrunner and pioneer in this business.
Early 2016, Michael decided to leave the Rabobank organisation and take up a new challenge, becoming the Co-Founder and Managing Director for Startupbootcamp’s new FinTech & CyberSecurity accelerator program in Amsterdam. Michael is currently also working on launching a new Fintech accelator program for Startupbootcamp in Frankfurt.
Michael is a regular keynote speaker at international conferences on topics such as corporate innovation, digital transformation, entrepreneurship and the future of Fintech.
In addition to his professional career, he is involved in extracurricular activities, such as the Bid Network Foundation (www.bidnetwork.org). Michael is a well-recognized mentor for promising startups across multiple verticals. With his involvement in the startup eco-system he is trying to bridge the gap and help transition the industry into being more mobile-enabled. Michael served the last couple of years also as member of the MEF EMEA Board, the global trade organisation of the mobile eco-system.
