Martin Blessing is the Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Commerzbank AG. Mr Blessing was appointed to the Board of Managing Directors of Commerzbank AG in 2001. Initially he was responsible for the Private Customers business, and subsequently for the Mittelstandsbank. Previous appointments during his professional career have been at Advance Bank AG, where he was Chairman of the Board from 2000 to 2001, and at Dresdner Bank AG where Mr Blessing co-headed the Private Customers division from 1997 to 2000. From 1989 to 1996 he was employed by McKinsey in Frankfurt am Main and New York, originally as a Consultant, and subsequently as a Partner. Martin Blessing completed a banking apprenticeship at Dresdner Bank AG, studied Business Administration at the University of Frankfurt and the University of St. Gallen, and obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago.
