Injong Rhee is the global head of B2B Mobile Business and Samsung Pay of Samsung Electronics. Under his leadership, Samsung has become the leader of Mobile Enterprise Security Solutions with his invention, KNOX. The KNOX platform, embedded into practically all Samsung Android and Tizen smartphones, provides the baseline security protection and data leakage protection for the operating systems. KNOX is currently approved and certified for use in various government and military organizations worldwide including US, UK, Australia, Finland, and China. KNOX was awarded as the best enterprise security solution by GSMA in 2015. Samsung Pay, also built on top of the KNOX platform, is another innovation of his at Samsung that resulted in more than $30M processed with over half a million users in just one month in South Korea. Samsung Pay will be launched in other markets soon.
Injong is one of the next generation global leaders of Samsung Electronics and the mobile industry with a clear customer centric vision and the passion for global impact. Prior to joining Samsung, Injong was a tenured professor of Computer Science at North Carolina State University. He is a celebrated inventor of the BIC, CUBIC TCP congestion control algorithms that are the default TCP congestion control used in all the Linux and Android devices around the world. Injong received NSF Career Award and the IEEE Communications society William R. Bennett Prize in the Field of Communications Networking.
