Iddo de Jong is Senior Expert in the DG Market Infrastructure & Payments of the European Central Bank and currently responsible for policy development on SEPA for cards and on innovative payment solutions (payment initiation services, e-commerce payments, and virtual currency schemes).
Working in central banking as of 2000, first at De Nederlandsche Bank, and at the ECB as of October 2006, he has worked on various retail payments issues (payment infrastructures, cards and other payment instruments, standardisation, innovation, security, as well as in offering payment system services to commercial banks).
Starting his professional career at the Ministry of Transport, he worked on the economic benefits of transport infrastructure, held a management position and was counsellor to one of the top-managers.
He holds a M.Sc. in Economics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
