As Chief Strategy, Product and Marketing Officer of the Western Union Company, Elizabeth G. (Libby) Chambers has responsibility for our global strategy, products, marketing, communications, and a range of corporate transformation initiatives.
Prior to joining Western Union, Libby served as Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, the international law firm. Previously, Libby held a range of senior marketing roles at Barclays, including serving as Chief Marketing Officer of retail and commercial banking and Barclaycard. She also led Barclaycard’s co-branded credit card issuing business in the UK for 3 years. Her tenure at Barclays was marked by a string of market-leading product innovations and partnerships, as well as digital channel development and brand transformation. Before joining Barclays she held C-level strategy, marketing and new business development roles at Bank of America, the Reader’s Digest Association and Bingham McCutchen LLP.
She is a non-executive director on the board of Smith & Williamson, the accounting, tax advisory and wealth management firm. Previous directorships have included Dollar Financial Group in the UK, hibu plc (formerly the Yell Group) and the Home and Savings Bank, a start-up retail banking venture. She also served on/chaired the boards of Barclaycard’s joint ventures with Home Retail Group (Argos), Thomas Cook and Solutions Personal Finance (Littlewoods). Earlier in her career she was an associate and then a partner with McKinsey & Company, serving financial institutions on a range of strategy, product marketing and organizational effectiveness topics.
A Harvard MBA, she is also a Stanford graduate and started her career as a financial analyst with Morgan Stanley & Co
