Chiin is a Technical Entrepreneur with 10 years’ experience in leadership and practitioner roles, delivering Data Science services in industry and founding scientific computing communities, at both UK and international levels. She received her BA in Economics from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Behavioural Economics, and is an active self-taught programmer (R, Python).
Most recently Chiin was the Head of Data Science at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the first Data Scientist hire in the history of this UK government department. Prior to this she’s held positions in industry, including at the Financial Times, M&C Saatchi Group, and Deloitte Consulting, with clients such as Barclays and Barclaycard. Chiin typically advises Board & Senior Management, building strategic data-driven capabilities which enable smarter customer-centric decisions and superior results.
Chiin is currently co-founding a FinTech startup called Rho Zeta, developing AI solutions for banks’ trading problems.
A regular on the London tech scene, Chiin is an active Data Science speaker, evangelist, and mentor, particularly known for her leadership role in the R-Ladies organisation, a Linux Foundation funded initiative to promote gender diversity in the global R community.
