X-border e-commerce: Barriers and opportunities

08:30 - 09:15 | Wednesday 6 April
| Track room 3 | X-Border Disruption

The global cross-border e-commerce market is estimated to quadruple in size to over €1 trillion in 2020. Cross-border e-commerce activity within Europe is still developing as most of the traffic occurs outside. The complexity involved in efficient and effective cross-border e-commerce is still challenging. How will new regulation help overcome the barriers within Europe (for example standardisation and interoperability) and what has been the impact from interchange fee regulation? This session will explore the growing corridors of cross-border e-commerce, the opportunities and challenges of delivering a frictionless and cost effective service and the outlook for the coming years.
