There is an ongoing discussion about the need for banks to start to “rebundle” services. This is especially apt in the US where regulation around open banking is slow moving. In fact, Brad Leimer penned a popular article about the morality of banks rebundling their offerings. However, here in Europe where open banking is practically a reality, given the PSD2 mandate and the ongoing discussion around GDPR regulatory compliance, is it even worth discussing? Yes, it is. Why? Because we don’t exactly know what cat is in (or has been let out of) Schrodinger’s proverbial bag. Is it a live cat, a dead cat, or a pseudo-white labeled service offering cat? This is what we’re here to discuss, and this is why it’s important to understand all sides of the cat, facing bundling of one sort or another
